Wondering About How To Start a Business With Your Spouse?

Catch Emily in U.S. News and World Report discussing what to know before pouring your family's financial future into a single business. Hint: consider a postnuptial agreement.

This is the introductory paragraph for the blog. It should be Paragraph 2 sizing — not bold and not italic unless you want to emphasize a certain word, phrase, sentence, or quote. This may be a few sentences or a couple of paragraphs long to introduce the optic of the blog. If you have an SEO keyword/phrase for this blog post, try to incorporate it here to make sure it appears within the first 100 words of the blog copy.

Secondary Header <H2>

The body text should always be paragraph 2. Secondary headers are a great way to make your blog post skimmable and more inviting to read. You want to always follow consistent formatting for blogs so that they're easier to read and use hierarchies of headers in order for SEO purposes.

More info on this if you're not sure what we mean by this: there should only be one <H1> (Heading 1) tag per page, and that's your blog title. Then, you'll want to use all other headings in order — for example, you wouldn't want to use an H2 and then skip down to H4 without using an H3 in between. You can go backwards, however — from H3 back to H2, for example.

Tertiary Header <H3>

Use H3 (Heading 3) headers whenever you have another sub-header section within the H2 section. Then always use Paragraph 2 text for the body copy. Using bullet points in blogs is also a great way to make them more inviting to read.

  • bullet 1

  • bullet 2

  • bullet 3

  • bullet 4

If you have another sub-topic you'd like to include within your H3 header, you can continue by using an H4 (Heading 4) header. If not, you can use another H2 secondary header.

Tertiary Header <H3>

This is another tertiary header if you want to add another topic within your Secondary header. You can also create numbered lists in your blog post.

  1. Point 1

  2. Point 2

  3. Point 3

Secondary Header <H2>

Sometimes it's nice to bold a phrase or sentence in the Paragraph 2 text that you want to stand out a bit, but don't overdo it as it loses its impact. For all headers — H1, H2, H3, and H4 — be consistent with capitalizing the first letter of each word, except for "a", "an", and sometimes "the".

Conclusion <H2>

It's also a great idea to end your blog with a conclusion or summary using Paragraph 2 text. It's smart to add a call-to-action at the end of your blog if it makes sense. For example, if you want people to book an appointment with you, link to your scheduling page.
